Selena Gomez - Slow Down (Remixes)

The first package of remixes of the Cataracs produced dance/pop song have been released. Chew Fu, Danny Verde, DJLW, Jason Nevins, Smash Mode, Paolo Ortelli & Luke Degree, and Sure Shot Rockers provided the first set.

Chew Fu's mix is close to the original, but it feels watered down. Danny Verde's tribal mix makes it into an anthem. DJLW's has lots of synths and electro breaks but not much else. Jason Nevins' ends up sounding like a noisier version of the original. Smash Mode's mix feels rather underdeveloped. Paolo & Luke's mix is pleasant, staying close to the original but making it more uplifting. The Sure Shot Rockers Reggae mix is soft and summery. Overall, the Danny Verde mix is the best of the bunch.

Britt Nicole - Gold (Remixes)

The Christian/Pop singer has released several albums already, but now she is ready to make her mainstream debut with this single. "Gold", sung so nicely by Britt is a very positive, uplifting Pop song. The themes of it are universal for people of all ages everywhere. This should easily be a top 10 hit in the U.S. There are some remixes of this for the clubs by Jason Nevins, N.V.N.Z., Reidiculous, and The Wideboys. Overall, Jason Nevins manages to transform this one just right.

Adam Lambert - If I Had You

There's another uncommissioned remix of Adam's third single, and it is by Trypsin & Billy Waters. For those wanting something a bit more circuit-oriented, this is it. They manage to maintain the fun vibe of the original while making it more club-friendly.This is really great.

Adam Lambert - If I Had You

This is the third single off of For Your Entertainment. "If I Had You" is and uptempo Dance/Rock/Electro track. It's a little edgier than the last single ("Whataya Want From Me"), but it's still good. There are remixes for this by Jason Nevins and Dangerous Muse. Jason's mix is his standard Dance/Rock offering. It loses some of the energy that the original has but it's still decent. On the unofficial side, there's a great mix by newcomer Bit Error. The mix captures the fun and energy of the original while making it dancefloor friendly.

Various - Just Dance Volume 3

This is the third installment of the compilation series. Featuring an assortment of remixes of Pop, R&B, Rap, and Alternative songs, plus some Dance thrown in for good measure. There are only a couple of exclusives, most notably the Jason Nevins remix (one of them) of Mariah Carey's "H.A.T.E.U.", which has not been released previously. Continuously mixed by Mike Rizzo and Joey Arbagey, they mix together 16 songs in just 68 minutes. The tracklisting is pretty good, except for a minor misstep with the Akcent song at the end.

Carmen Reece - Right Here

Hailing from the UK, Carmen Reece is set to make her stateside debut with "Right Here." It really showcases her impressive vocal range. "Right Here" is an uptempo R&B/Pop track. The club mixes by Dave Aude, Escape & Tony Coluccio, DJ Markie Mark, and Jason Nevins are really great as well. Dave Aude's is light Dance/Pop with some nice piano keys thrown in. This could easily be played on Pop radio. Escape & Coluccio's is hard and driving and makes this almost anthemic. DJ Markie Mark's is sort of in-between the two. Speeding up the vocals doesn't sound that good Jason Nevins' is his usual Dance/Rock goodness. It works well. Great package overall.

Elliot Yamin - Wait For You...Remixed

He was in the final 3 during the 5th season of singing competition American Idol. His first post-Idol album and single have been out for some time now. "Wait For You" has been doing pretty well on the Pop radio format and has begun to get some play on Rhythmic stations as well. The song is an in-between R&B/Pop ballad. It has the feel of some of Brian McKnight's music.

Trendsetting Pop station Z100 in New York has been changing things up a bit and is playing a remix by Jason Nevins. This mix basically takes the piano and bass from the original and adds some rock guitars plus some familiar drum loops. And the vocals on top of this production sound a lot better. The song still has the emotional element found in the original, but it's just a little faster. It's well-done.

Jason did two slightly different mixes. The GTR (Guitar) mixes are a little more Dance/Rock-ish while the Synth mixes are a little more clubbier.

There is also a mix by Midi Mafia which is not really a Dance mix in the conventional sense. It's basically an Urban mix. This is quite suitable for the Rhythmic format. It feels a little more generic in this incarnation, but it's decent at best.
