John LePage feat. Niki Haris - Not Enough

This is indeed a remake of the Melanie Williams song of the same name from the mid 90s which was remixed by Junior Vasquez and Love To Infinity. Niki Haris delivers a fantastic vocal performance. She remains true to the original, though she did put her own spin on some of the notes. The main version produced by John LePage and Brian Cua is in a similar vein as the classic Love To Infinity mix of the Melanie version. It's a modern take on handbag House. There are additional remixes by Julian Marsh, NovoGain, Peter Brown, and Tony Moran with Warren Rigg. Julian Marsh's happy Hi Nrg inflected House mix is uplifting and pretty. NovoGain's big room, peak hour mix is anthemic. The soft yet moderately anthemic Peter Brown mix has an Ibiza House feel. Tony Moran and Warren Rigg's mix is also for the big room and circuit floors. Theirs is uplifting as well. Overall, every remix is wonderful, however, the NovoGain and Moran & Rigg ones are the standouts.

Wayne G feat. Brian Kent - With Or Without You

This is indeed a remake of the 1987 number one hit by U2. This song is perfect for a remix treatment and Wayne G steps up to the plate while listing  the vocals talents of Brian Kent. Brian manages to deliver a great vocal, coming extremely close to re-creating the magic of Bono's original vocal, which is a very tough thing to do.

There is a massive package of remixes by Wayne G & LFB, Twisted Dee, Andy Allder, Sean Mac, Julian Marsh, Matt Effect with LFB, Radboy, and Club Junkies. Nearly all of the mixes are in a big room and circuit style with the Club Junkies one being more mainstream and the Sean Mac one being more underground. In addition to the main version, Twisted Dee, Matt Effect with LFB, and Julian Marsh's mixes are the best of the bunch, though every version is quite good.

Aiden Leslie - Diamond Dreams (Remixes)

The original version was released a short time back. Now the remixes by Klubjumpers, Tim Letteer, Julian Marsh, The All Nighters, Joe Mancuso, and Mike Degen have been released.

The Klubjumpers mix is a straightforward circuit mix. Tim Letteer's is in a similar vein, however, it builds up nicely to the vocals. This is the anthem mix of the release. Julian Marsh's circuit-oriented mix is very uplifting with the huge synths. The All Nighters mix lives up to its name being much darker. Joe Mancuso's percussive mix is a bit lighter. Last but not least is the Mike Degen Rockapella which is just the vocals and the rock production of the original minus the beats.

Every version on the release is excellent with the Tim Letteer and Julian Marsh mixes being the best of the bunch.

Nouveau Riche - Stay

Although this single was released back in 2007 in Sweden, this is just getting released in the U.S. via ISV Entertainment. "Stay" is a cover of the Mynt & Kim Sozzi song from 2005. The Dance/Pop duo's take on this is very true to the original. In addition to the SoundFactory mix from the original release, the U.S. release includes mixes by Julian Marsh, Klubjumpers and Dirty-Z. Julian's mix is a nice blend of uplifting Trance with some hints of Circuit. Klubjumpers provide an in-between Electro/Dance mix. Dirty-Z's is a hard, aggressive Trance mix a la Friday Night Posse or Alex K. SoundFactory's is included as well. His mix is lighter than his usual and is almost like the original Mynt version. A special CD maxi was made available for purchase this week through Perfect Beat that includes all the mentioned mixes plus one mix of each of Nouveau Riche's earlier singles and a megamix. It's a great deal. Overall, the song and its accompanying package is very good.

Charo - Espana Cani

Charo will forever be known for her signature "Cuchi-Cuchi" line made famous on the Love Boat, however she should be remembered for her contributions to music. During the height of Disco music's popularity, Charo released a few singles and an album with the Salsoul Orchestra on the legendary Salsoul label. "Dance A Little Closer" and "Ole Ole" are two somewhat famous songs she did. She has continued her recording career. With the latest single, she takes a step back and doesn't sing or talk on the song. Instead, she plays the guitar. "Espana Cani" is a famous Spanish instrumental piece. Charo has been recording her guitar music for a number of years. This time, it's set to pulsating tribal beats and soaring synths. Aimed at the dancefloors of the world, this song has several remixes in addition to the Dancey original. Twisted Dee, Julian Marsh and Peitor Angell provide the remixes. Twisted Dee's is a hard-hitting tribal stomper that continues in the direction of the original. Julian Marsh's is a bit more Eurodance-sounding, however, it is faithful to the original. Peitor Angell's is a little milder, but the energy level never drops. Additional mixes by Tony Moran have been completed, howver, there are no additional details about a possible release of those. Overall, this package is a must-have. This can be compared in terms of its sheer brilliance to the remix package completed in 2006 for Gustavo Santaolalla's "The Wings" which was the instrumental theme from the movie Brokeback Mountain. Buy the mixes on a CD single or as a digital download here.
