Dance Your Ass Off (Salsoul Remixes)

The Ultra Music record label has teamed up with spin studio Flywheel for some special spin classes which would feature songs from this new remix collection comprised of songs from the legendary Disco label Salsoul Records. The significant majority of the songs selected for this compilation are beloved classics. A few were underground hits, and there is one brand new track (the Jessie Andrews one). Overall, most of the new remixes are faithful to the originals, but are updated enough for today. The highlights include the remixes of "Love Sensation", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Love Thang", and "By The Way You Dance." The remixes of "Jingo" and "I Got My Mind Made Up" are decent, however, the production on them loses the integrity that the originals had. Other remixes done of those over the years, most notably by Mount Rushmore and Thunderpuss respectively had been much better. The compilation is continuously mixed like a DJ set. The songs are nicely sequenced with every transition being very smooth. This is overall a great compilation.

Tracklisting:
01. Loleatta Holloway - Love Sensation (White Noize remix)
02. Inner Life - Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (White Noize remix)
03. Jessie Andrews - I Never Knew
04. Aurra - Forever (J Paul Getto remix)
05. The Salsoul Orchestra - Love Break (Stephan Luke remix)
06. First Choice - Dr Love (White Noize remix)
07. Candido - Jingo (Federico Scavo remix)
08. Instant Funk - I Got My Mind Made Up (DJ Dan remix)
09. First Choice - Love Thang (DJ Dan remix)
10. Inner Life - I Like It Like That Way (J Paul Getto remix)

Club 69 Back Catalogue Now Available For Purchase!

Club 69 was a production team comprised of the late Peter Rauhofer, Eric Kupper, and Georg O. Luksch. They had a number of hits with their own productions as well as the many remixes they did. Up until recently, only the Best Of Club 69 compilation comprised of the singles and select album tracks from the Adults Only and Style albums was available for digital download. It is unknown when it happened, but all of the Club 69 CD maxi singles, the 2 albums, and the ReStyled remix album released in the U.S. are available now. Some of the remixes, dubs, edits, and DJ tools found on the vinyl singles, promos, import editions have not been made available at this time. and iTunes is the only digital store selling these at the moment. Hopefully other stores like Beatport will carry these so DJs and collectors can purchase them in WAV format.

Here is what is available (the links are for iTunes and will let you hear clips of every track and purchase if you wish to):

Amber & Zelma Davis - No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)

This is indeed a cover of the Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer song, with Clubland legends Amber and Zelma Davis delivering the vocals.

There have been a few covers of this song over the years that have attempted to recapture the magic of the original, but none have been able to do so until now. Kym Mazelle with Jocelyn Brown and k.d. lang with Andy Bell have done covers that were fairly decent.

Pathos V2 and Solar City provide the remixes this time around.

Watch Amber and Zelma talk about how they got together and the process of recording this song. There are also some clips of the song.

The digital release of the mixes will be happening on August 12, 2008. A special limited CD single is going to be made available, however, it is only available if pre-ordered by August 1, 2008 following the directions on this page in the first post by JMCA.

The tracklisting of the single:

01. Pathos V2 Classic Mix (5:12)
02. Pathos V2 Kick Out Radio Edit (3:48)
03. Pathos V2 Kick Out Video Edit (5:11)
04. Solar City Radio Edit (3:53)
05. Solar City Album Edit (5:12)
06. Solar City Epic Mixshow (6:38)
07. Solar City Epic Club Mix 10:49)

Based on the first previews of this song, it sounds quite promising and could prove to be quite successful.

A more thorough review will be posted here after the release happens.
