Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You

This is the 3rd single off of their sophomore album. After two uptempo singles, they have gone with a mid-tempo ballad that has been a fan favorite ever since the album was released. Adam Levine's vocals sound crisp and fresh on this one. The song's instrumental immediately calls to mind the AC radio staple "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. It has a very similar structure from the verses to the chorus and the bridge. It works very well though.

Janet Jackson - Feedback

After the less than stellar performance and reception to her last two albums, Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. respectively, Janet is back with a new single and a new album. The lead single off of her appropriately titled album Discipline on Island Def Jam Records is "Feedback". She brings an uptempo R&B/Disco/Dance hybrid that is sure to fill the dancefloors in the clubs and burn up the radio. For the first time in nearly 4 years, she delivers a song that is an out-of-the-box favorite. No gimmicks or over-the-top trashy-sexy lyrics. Her vocals sound better than they have on the last two albums. There are plenty of vocoders and added effects in some parts, but it works well. The album is set to be released in mid to late February. Welcome back Janet!

Hilary Duff - Reach Out (And Touch Me)

Hilary has been performing this new song as part of her Dignity Tour. It has gotten an amazing response. She does sample from Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus." It is done tastefully though. The "reach out and touch me" line is resung by her and used as the hook. This song instantly calls to mind last year's "Beware Of The Dog" by Jamelia which also sampled from "Personal Jesus." Unfortunately, Jamelia's song didn't crossover in the U.S. Aside from it being used in last year's Victoria's Secret fashion show which was televised on CBS, it got minimal exposure in the U.S. There has been talk of a re-release of Hilary's Dignity album with some additional tracks including this one and a cover she has performed of "Love Is A Battlefield" by Pat Benatar. There is still no confirmation that such a release will happen. This new song is perfect for re-introducing Ms. Duff's Dance/Pop album to the masses.

Snoop Dogg - Sexual Eruption

This is the latest from his forthcoming album. The title will definitely pique interest. This song reminds us of why we love Snoop Dogg so much. Instead of just rapping the whole time, Snoop sings for most of it and raps just a little. The song has the feel of an 80's Freestyle/Hip Hop track. But it doesn't feel dated. It feels very fresh. There is a cleaner version of the original called "Sensual Seduction." Just a few lyrics are changed, but it works. The music video is very eye-popping and cute. Yes. It's kinda cute.
